The QMHP/BHT didactic training program curriculum follows the same curriculum as our Community Health Worker (CHW) curriculum. Thus, trainees are enrolled in the CHW course. Below are some highlights of our program:
- ON-DEMAND: 12 weeks, online, and self-paced program with 17 interactive modules (80 hours).
- APPROVED: Meets the didactic requirement set by the Virginia Department of Health Professions for Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) and Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) registration. It also meets the didactic requirement for a Certified CHW credential.
- CONNECTED: Get support for career and experiential opportunities.
- SUPPORTIVE: Easy access to tech help from the VHWDA team.

Cost
VHWDA's QMHP/BHT didactic training program costs $950.
Discounts apply for group enrollment and can also be applied to individual enrollment upon request. Please review our discount payment plan policy and sales policy before making a purchase. The cost includes:
- 12 weeks of unlimited access to all didactic course material.
- 1-on-1 technical assistance
- QMHP/BHT registration preparation.
Registration & Enrollment
The CHW training program enrolls twice per month in 12-week cohorts. The dates below are the current available cohorts to choose from:
- November 18 – February 18, 2026

Enrollment Steps:
Step 1: Review VHWDA's Sales Policy
Step 2: Submit your payment (choose from the following options):
Step 3: Receive the payment confirmation email, which will include the registration form. Here, you can select the cohort dates you want to enroll in.
Step 4: Check your email! Once the registration form is submitted, you will be contacted by a VHWDA team member who will confirm your enrollment and provide information about orientation.
Information Sessions
For more information on the training program, join one of our live virtual information sessions to learn more about our didactic training Program. These sessions, led by Workforce Training Program Manager Henry Lewis, offer an overview of the program, enrollment steps, and time for your questions.
